I'm not terribly fussy about friending in general. The things you should know:

1. My fics are now posted at caveat__lector. If you're purely looking for fic, that's the place to go. Four writers for the price of one community, why not?

1a. For footie fic, weightedpass is the place.

2. Fic archive post. Reviews make me happy, and I always try to reply.

3. This journal is about 80% football, 10% RL, 5% writing babble and 5% other fandom talk. Just so that you know what you're getting into.

4. I shift fandoms at the drop of a hat.

5. I don't bite. Really. Also, I won't be offended if you defriend when my posts and your interests no longer match, or for that matter for any reason.

I finally got my act together and did the friends cut. Needless to say, if you were taken off it wasn't because I suddenly and inexplicably developed a raging hatred for you or anything equally ridiculous. Also, you certainly aren't missing out on much. I did ask if anyone wanted to stay on, and was very grateful for those who commented.

I'll also take this moment to point out that everyday is defriending amnesty day around here. Feel free.

On a completely different note, here's my comment thread for the Great Write Meme. Feedback of all kinds welcome as always, and I don't really mind whether you log out or not. In fact, con crit would be really nice right now, since I'm kind of weighing a change to my writing style.

Why haven't I posted in...god, it's been a while...let's just say 'a long time'? My working life isn't very interesting. But a belated happy holidays to you all! My NotNo is coming along nicely, with over 10000 words done. However, I can't post any yet because none of it is in chronological order. *headdesks* Also, most of you won't even know what I'm talking about, so I've compiled this handy and hopefully amusing guide.

Part One: Characters (as compared to their Dynasty Warriors counterparts)

First, a little explaination of names. Chinese names consist of the family name first and then the given name, said together. Harry Potter would be Potter Harry, etc. So that's easy enough. Names in ancient China were a bit more complicated. Most grown men in ancient China also had a style name which could be used to show respect to the person you're talking to. (It was considered very rude to call someone who isn't vastly inferior to you by their given name only.)

E.g. Zhou Yu/Zhou Gongjin: first name Yu, last name Zhou, style name Gongjin.

I did manage to finish the essay, fortunately, but it was 6AM when I did and I had a law class at 9 which I had to get up at 7 for. So, you know, I'm feeling a little dead after 4 classes with almost no sleep.

Note to self: don't ever start an essay at 6PM the night before you have to hand it in ever again. You do want to get into second year law, right?

So. After I had a short nap I commenced mocking of the speech I linked to yesterday with blademistress. She came up with the best parts, as you'll see.

First, a little bit of background, since most people around here aren't into New Zealand politics. The ACT Party was founded by Richard Prebble who broke off from the left-wing Labour party in the 1980s. (Yes, ACT has to be written in capitals - it's an acronym which stands for something really silly.) They claim to stand for classical liberal values across both social and economic areas, but in reality this isn't always the case.

For example, you have Dr Muriel Newman, deputy leader and welfare spokesperson of ACT, who is a hardline social conservative. I came across the speech linked above when researching for an assignment on welfare and was sufficiently angered by it to mock.

So. Warnings for crass humour and mocking of everything ACT stands for. Well, and gratuitous Don Brash jokes.

devils_devotion very kindly invited hopechan and I to share her fic comm caveat__lector, which she already shares with maaya1x2, and we both accepted. I’m very happy to be sharing a comm with 3 such talented writers, and between us there’s quite a bit of variety as well, which is always nice, so go forth and friend!

If you’re only here for my fic, now’s your chance to unfriend me and friend the fic comm. I will not be offended in the least if you do that. In fact, if the above applies, I encourage you to do so. However, this does not mean that you have to do any such thing. Feel free to friend both, one, or none, but only if you want to. No pressure of any kind from me. Me belonging to a fic comm does mean a slight change in the function of this journal. In the interests of not spamming you guys silly, I will still mention any new fic here, but only as part of another post, and fics will actually be posted to the comm. The main content of this journal will be pretty much similar to what it was before, but with occasional discussion and pieces of what I’m working on (similar to what lykomancer has going on, if you have her friended) which will be locked. In general, more posts will now be friendslocked than before.

My general friending policy for this journal is unchanged – comment and I’ll probably friend back, but if you're looking for my fic I shall 1) be very flattered and 2) direct you to caveat__lector.

Summary Executions III: the Horrors of Mediaminer

These are from the first three pages of mediaminer.org. It's like crossover central in there, I swear. No comments from me this time - you guys are funnier anyway, so snark away. XD

My notes are in italics.

• Ed and Al find a passed out, bloody girl on thier way to meet Mustang. They take her with them, but once Mustang sees her he tells them that she is not human bacause there is no way she would have been able to live with those wound if she was, but she doesn't remember anything about herself nor about anything else. What do they do with her?



• Spike and Jet are headed back to mars when they get a bounty dropped in their laps. Easy money. But where did that wormhole come from? And how are they going to get back home with a broken ship? Use Alchemy you say?!
  
  I actually skimmed some of this, and while the concept is...odd...the writing isn't too awful, except for the Homunculus-Mary Sue who was involved with Hohenheim.

Everyone's got their own OTP for their one OTF, let's face it. (And if you don't, then you're an OMG DEVIANT. :P) That one pairing you'll read above all else, that one pairing you'll stick up for in the name of love, and justice, and possibly crack.

Sometimes, other people just don't GET your fandom, or your pairing, and other times, people COULD like your pairing if they just knew where to find the proverbial fiction gold for it.

So this is the challenge. Make a fanfiction recs post for one of your OTPs. It can be any length, any number of fics, WIPs or multi-parters that are completed or one-shots. Anything.

In short, supply your readers with the [Title] of the fic, the [rating], and any [spoilers] or [warnings] that they'll need to look out for, please. And then c/p this into your own LJ and spread your OTP love! ^____^

However, I'm going to be a deviant and do something different, because I suck like that. Actually, I do have a real reason for doing things this way. I'm not a shipper, not really. What do I stick up for in the name of 'love, justice and possibly crack'? Edward Elric.
